Don't overwork yourself, you are more productive when if you rest
I came to remind you to take a well deserved break.
You’re driven.
You’ve been working hard trying to create a life you can be proud of and you experience some what pressure because you feel the responsibility to not let yourself nor your family down, because they’re counting on you.
They’re all relying on you to make it out the hood.
I get it.
And I respect your grind, but as someone that naturally looks out for people, I can’t help but ask you 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘥?
I’m not talking about just sleep, but thorough rest: your senses, your emotions, your mind.
When was the last time you decided to think about nothing and just relaxed?
If you haven’t, consider doing it this week.
I know it may feel wrong, because it feels like there is no time and you needed your results yesterday but
𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙬𝙤𝙧𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧𝙨𝙚𝙡𝙛 𝙞𝙨 𝙣𝙤𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙨𝙬𝙚𝙧.
Research shows that getting enough rest actually helps you focus, process information, which leads to increased productivity.
I personally realized this when I decided to rest (against my will) when I got tired during long sessions of work instead of trying to go a bit longer.
Not only was I more productive, I worked more efficiently and I was in a better mood which made working on my projects so much more fun!
I know it’s easy to skip self care when you’re highly driven and motivated and goal oriented but it’s not healthy on the long run. Needless to say that you need your health to eventually reach - and enjoy (!!!) - your goals.
You’re not idle, nor are you wasting time when you take time off work.
Try set this boundary with yourself, to not overwork yourself.
When are you overworking yourself?
Your body knows. It will tell you.
You just need to listen.
